SINCGARS Baseline Systems, System Enhancement, and Logistics Support

Under this contract by the by the U.S. Army’s Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM), the ITT/Thales Communications team is providing approximately 58,000 SINCGARS radio systems to the U.S. Army. The new 1523G systems represent an upgraded version of the SINCGARS radio system, of which more than 475,000 have been fielded by ITT to the Army. Enhanced technical capabilities and Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) technology will be integrated into the new radio systems, providing a radio platform that aligns with the future capabilities of the JTRS Program.

Thales brings its significant depth of experience with JTRS solutions and the Software Communications Architecture (SCA) to the 1523G. The JTRS technology embedded into the 1523G is leveraged from Thales’s AN/PRC-148 JTRS Enhanced Multiband Inter/Intra Team Radio (JEM), the first SCA-compliant handheld radio to be developed under a JTRS program of record. Together, the ITT/Thales team is providing the Army with a solution that meets all of the critical performance requirements of SINCGARS plus the capabilities provided by certified and fielded JTRS software defined radio technology.
