Description
The AN/PRC-148 Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) Enhanced Multiband Inter/Intra Team Radio,
or JEM, is an evolution of the combat-proven AN/PRC-148 MBITR and is the smallest, lightest,
and most power-efficient multiband, tactical, handheld radio covering the 30-512 MHz frequency
range in use today. Selected for all-services procurement as a JTRS-approved production radio,
the AN/PRC-148 JEM is delivering the best of JTRS. This Software Communications
Architecture-compliant platform hosts all of today's core waveforms. The programmable
cryptography supports the requirements of the National Security Agency's (NSA) crypto modernization
program and is certified by NSA to protect the confidentiality of voice and data up through the
Top Secret level. Programmable INFOSEC enables interoperability with a full range of legacy
systems and allows for non-Type 1 or exportable INFOSEC implementations. Through a significant
level of design similarity with the AN/PRC-148 MBITR, the AN/PRC-148 JEM's features - like the
human machine interface—minimize training requirements, enable rapid fielding, and provide the
reliability that warfighters have trusted for years. The AN/PRC-148(V)3(C) and AN/PRC-148(V)4(C)
are SECAN approved.
Simple software downloads provide enhanced capabilities for your AN/PRC-148 JEM. Additional features can be integrated into your AN/PRC-148 JEM as easily as adding more features to your computer:
The AN/PRC-148 is the cornerstone of a complete communications solution of dismounted and vehicular systems for the warfighter. Additionally, the AN/PRC-148 JEM technology has been leveraged into a multiband solution for airborne radios designed for unmanned aircraft systems, aerostats, and small aircraft payloads.
